Grand Rounds Online

Grand Rounds Online is an innovative CME program in which Shands HealthCare affiliated physicians can view and listen to actual medical grand rounds lectures via the Internet. Lectures are given by members of the UF College of Medicine faculty and, on occasion, special guest speakers. Up-to-date expert reviews of clinically relevant medical topics are presented in a multimedia format. Category 1 CME credit is offered from the CME office.

Health Management for Older Adults:

Health Management for Older Adults / Caring for Older Adults are a series of modules designed to target health professionals in the nursing home, hospital, clinic, and home health care environments.  This program was produced and distributed by the University of Florida Geriatric Education Center (GEC) in cooperation with the North Florida Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) and the Gainesville VA Medical Center Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC).

Influenza A to B

This module will describe syndromes caused by influenza virus and explain why some patients have only a mild upper respiratory tract infection, whereas others have a viral pneumonia that rapidly progresses to death. It will also examine host defense mechanisms against influenza and their implications for creation of more effective vaccines. It also covers practical treatment issues.

Post-Menopausal Osteoporosis

(notice: CME credit has expired)

In this module, you will have the opportunity to learn about postmenopausal osteoporosis, its diagnosis and the currently available treatments. After completing the module, you will also have acquired sufficient knowledge about bone densitometry in order to apply it in your practice when evaluating patients at risk of osteoporosis.

Using the Internet Effectively

This program is intended for anyone who is interesting in using the Internet as an effective medical resource. It includes a complete 25 minute RealAudio lecture with sychronized slides by Richard Rathe, MD, Director of Medical Informatics at the University of Florida. CME credit is available from the Office of Continuing Medical Education.
